Diarrhea with Disinfection of Feeding Bag for the Patient with Nasogastric Tubal Feeding

Abstract
This study was attempted to identify diarrhea relation to disinfection of the feeding bag for the patient with nasogastric tuba! feeding.
The data were collected at neurological intensive care unit of the D general hospital in Ulsan city from the 1st March to 30th September, 1997.
The subjects were 20 patients and observed two groups with disinfection of the feeding bag, serum albumin level, antibiotics with/without H2 antagonist, duration of the feeding administration.
The data were analyzed by SPSS/I¢¥C+.
Data analysis included the frequency, percentage and x 2-test. The results were as follows
1) Among the demographic characteristics, it is riot significant diarrhea with age, sex, mechanical ventilator.
2) Among the 20 patients, 11(55 %) patients occurred diarrhea with disinfection of the feeding bag and the difference is significant( x 2=5.26, p=0.021).
3) It is not significant diarrhea with serum albumin level.
4) It is not significant diarrhea with antibiotics with/without 112 antagonist.
5) It is significant diarrhea with duration of the feeding administration(,-!2=15.1r, p=0.0001).
The data indicate that it is necessary the nurses must do disinfection of feeding bag for the patients with nasogastric tubal feeding to prevent diarrhea.
